Motivational Monday #3: Be a Game Changer, The World is Already Full of Players

In a corporate world where everyone is working to achieve the same goals, it’s easy to blend in with everyone else. Most people that want to “make it” are all ambitious, passionate, driven, and like minded.  The world is already full of players, and showing your strengths and standing out is no easy feat. To really be the best and win, you need to be a game changer. You need to find unique ways to solve problems, and be like no one else. So how are you going to stand out?

How You Can Implement This In Your Life:

Find What You’re Passionate About

It’s easy to make a difference with something you’re passionate about. Working on something you’re not interested in will be a lot harder to succeed or lead in.

Write Down Questions and Ideas

Writing down ideas and questions can help your creative side flow, and you never know what can come from it. It can also help you question the status quo and force you to think differently.

If you’re in a meeting, actively listen. Pay attention and find ways to question the discussion. Don’t just take actions for what they are, but make sure that those actions are the best way to pursue tasks at hand, and speak up if they’re not.

Find Your Voice

Don’t be afraid to speak up in meetings. Be assertive, say what you feel, and put your ideas out there. People won’t know what you have to say until you say it.

There are so many times where I’ve seen people pause a meeting to give their input. No one asked for their input, yet what they said sparked new ideas, conversation, and led to change.

Don’t be afraid to go against the norm and mention something that’s opposite of what people are saying. You’re in the meeting to be a resource, question the facts, and have an opinion. Use the powers you’re given! This could be the easiest way to stand out and be a game changer once you face your fears of speaking up.

Have the Right Mindset

Be unyielding, consistent, dedicated, and positive. Don’t let anything stop you from getting to where you want to be, and if you fail, get back up. Keep doing your best, until you are the best.

Everyday when you wake up, think of where you want to be. Don’t let negativity or stress make you forget. Have the end goal in mind, and use every day as a stepping stone to get there.

This can be the difference between you and other people. Having the right mindset will help you become a game changer. People will want to be around you and ask for your input.

Meet Like-Minded People

The people that you surround yourself influence you, whether you realize it or not. Network, and find people that are as passionate as you and can help you get to where you want to be. If the people around you aren’t aligned to your long term goals, find others that are.

.Take advantage of networking sessions, projects, and meetings, and introduce yourself to others. Meeting people will help you be a game changer later. Timing is everything, and you never know when the people you meet or the opportunities you’re able to take a part of will help you.

Hustle When Needed

Chances are, at some point in your life, you will have to hustle. You’ll have to work long hours, work on weekends or overwork yourself when different teams need you.

Don’t let the hustle burn you out…let it be a reminder of the hard work you need to put in to get to where you want to be. No game changer got to where they are by just cruising. Don’t let the grunt work phase you.

Don’t Lose Sight of the Why

To be a game changer, you have to remember your long term goals and apply your work to it. If you’re doing work without learning anything from it, working on projects without putting your best self forward, or performing meaningless daily tasks, you need to redefine and search for your why.

Let this lead you, in every job you take, every project you work on, and every meeting you attend. And let that passion fuel you forward towards your goals.

Bottom Line

Game changers change the game. They don’t just sit around and go with the flow. Apply that in whatever way works for you, whether it’s working the extra hour or speaking up in a meeting and letting your ideas be heard!
